TRANSGENDER

Being transgender, or trans, means you have a gender identity or gender expression that is different from the sex that you were assigned at birth. Some transgender people choose to use medical assistance to change themselves to feel better in their own body. Trans means across in Latin, as opposed to cis, which means the same side. People often use cisgender, or cis to refer to people who are straight or who conform to the gender they were assigned to at birth.
